Today, Scratch no More celebrates its 12.5-year anniversary. The Dutch manufacturer and supplier of high-quality furniture glides has grown into a household name in the flooring and furniture industry over the past 12.5 years. Gertjan Verwoert's company from Rhenen now has more than a thousand dealers in the Netherlands and Belgium and a Dutch and German-language webshop.

The idea of Gertjan Verwoert

Scratch no More founder Gertjan Verwoert came up with the furniture glides 12.5 years ago. Floor damage caused by sliding furniture was a thorn in his side. After a conversation with a floor maintenance company, he came up with the idea to develop a solution for this. The result: replaceable chair leg caps equipped with the scratch-free poyamide fibres.

Chair leg caps fitted with a dry-walk carpet

Verwoert: "The problem with felt and Teflon glides is that these hard caps create a sandpaper effect on a hard floor. Dirt such as sand is dragged across the floor like sandpaper, which actually causes scratches. I then started looking for another material. After a lot of testing, I ended up with carpet of the highest quality. This material is also used for doormats, because it is very wear-resistant and durable."

Expansion to consumers and Germany

Scratch no More started by supplying furniture glides to companies in the flooring and furniture industry. The company has now built up a large dealer network and Scratch no More glides are for sale in more than a thousand locations in the Netherlands and Belgium. After much demand from the market, Gertjan Verwoert's company decided to sell directly to consumers via a Dutch-language webshop. The German webshop was launched at the beginning of this year.

The Future

The company now has ten employees and plans to continue growing, according to Verwoert: "We continue to innovate and come up with new chair leg caps, so that everyone can continue to optimally protect their floor against sliding furniture. In addition, we will ensure that our products are more readily available in the rest of Europe."

In the video (Dutch) below, Gertjan Verwoert explains how the idea for the furniture glides came about, how we have grown and what our vision for the future is.
