Inserts & socket sleeves
With our inserts, you can install threaded glides and castors with threaded stems into hollow furniture legs. With our socket sleeves, you can easily install castors with stems into round or square hollow chair legs.
What are socket sleeves and what are they used for?
You use socket sleeves to install swivel castors into hollow chair legs. The socket sleeve is pressed into the hollow chair leg. The socket sleeve has an opening where a grip ring stem fits. The castor is pressed into the socket sleeve with the stem.
Which furniture legs can you use socket sleeves for?
Socket sleeves are suitable for straight hollow chair legs with an internal diameter of 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 22, and 23mm. Socket sleeves for square hollow legs are also available in sizes 17x17, 18x18, 22x22, 23x23, and 26x26mm.
What should I look out for when buying socket sleeves?
Make sure to check which size you need. With socket sleeves, it’s always the internal diameter that matters. Measure this with a calliper and then choose the correct size of our socket sleeves. Also, ensure that the swivel castor is always positioned perpendicular to the floor, otherwise, the wheels won’t roll properly.
What are inserts and what are they used for?
An insert is a plug that you place into a hollow chair leg. They are fitted with a threaded opening, allowing you to screw a furniture glide or treaded stem into it. We offer inserts in two shapes: round and square.
Inserts for furniture glides
If you want to use inserts to attach furniture glides to your chairs, you can combine them with our Threadfixx or Footfixx Threaded. The threaded glides are easily screwed into the insert. The Threadfixx can only be used for straight legs and is therefore often used for table legs. The Footfixx Threaded can also be used for angled legs. The glide foot is clicked on a ball joint, allowing it to move up to an angle of 30 degrees.
Inserts for swivel castors
Inserts can be useful if you want to equip a chair with hollow legs with swivel castors. In addition to an insert and a swivel castor, you will also need a threaded stem. A threaded stem consists of two parts: the stem side, which fits into the wheel, and the threaded side, which screws into the insert.
What should I look out for when buying inserts?
Always check the size of your furniture leg carefully. With inserts, it’s always the external diameter that matters. Measure the external diameter of your furniture leg with a calliper and choose the matching insert. When using inserts for castors, it is important that the wheel is always perpendicular to the floor, otherwise, the wheels won’t roll properly.
